[Controversy Over Backpack Witch Identification Rules Sparks Large-Scale Community Doubts, Official Response Pending]
BlockBeats News, March 23: Backpack officially launched its token claim and staking page today, but it was immediately followed by widespread controversy over "witch identification." Several well-known airdrop hunters and individual investors reported that numerous accounts were flagged by the system as witch accounts.
According to community member anymose, 99% of their accounts were identified as witches, even those established within closed communities via private invitations were not spared. As of now, the official team has not provided a clear explanation. Some "captain" roles responsible for community growth have been significantly impacted, with voices questioning contradictions in the rule design—on one hand encouraging users to expand the ecosystem, while on the other hand targeting core users driving growth for mass account bans. Additionally, some community members who communicated with the Backpack Chinese team learned that even certain official members lacked further clarification on the matter.
Meanwhile, X platform user @gch_enbsbxbs also stated that both their main Backpack account and alt accounts were identified as witches, speculating that this might be related to previous participation in activities using multiple devices. Despite claiming to have kept participation within a limited scope and inviting real-life friends and family, they were ultimately subjected to a complete ban.
Overall, the witch identification issue during Backpack's token distribution process has deviated from community expectations, and the market is closely watching for the official team's follow-up response.
