Someone combined Qwen3.5-9B and Claude Opus's reasoning models to create an uncensored version, quantized it into GGUF, and uploaded it to HuggingFace.
Reddit's r/LocalLLaMA is blowing up over this.
Why is this worth talking about? Because it highlights a structural divide happening in the AI industry.
On one side, you have closed-source giants like OpenAI and Anthropic. Their models are getting stronger, but the censorship is getting tighter. You ask sensitive questions, and they respond with 'I can't help with that.'
On the other side, there's the open-source community. Qwen3.5 is open-sourced by Alibaba Cloud, and it can run on just 16GB of memory with 9B parameters. Someone fine-tuned it into an uncensored version, stripping away the safety filters via SFT. Then they directly distilled Claude's reasoning layer into it.
Q4 quantization runs at about 40 tokens/second on an M2 Mac, which is good enough for daily use. Its reasoning ability is noticeably stronger than the original Qwen—you can feel a bit of Claude's flavor in it.
Removing safety filters doesn’t make the model smarter; it just stops saying no to you.
The capabilities that commercial AI companies spent billions training are being freely reassembled by the community. If you’ve tried it, let me know how it works for you.
