[Insiders: U.S. troop buildup in the Middle East aims to 'clear' the Strait of Hormuz or seize islands]
BlockBeats News, March 21, according to CCTV reports, on March 20 local time, U.S. officials stated that the U.S. military is deploying three additional warships and approximately 2,500 Marines to the Middle East.
Previously, U.S. insiders revealed that the troop buildup would provide President Trump with more military options, including launching operations to 'clear' the Strait of Hormuz, which would require deploying air and naval forces along Iran's coastline.
According to insiders, the Trump administration is also considering deploying ground forces to Kharg Island, the 'lifeline' of Iran's oil exports. This plan aims to seize the island as leverage to pressure Iran into restoring passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Kharg Island is located in the northwestern Persian Gulf, more than 20 kilometers from Iran's coastline, and serves as Iran's largest crude oil export hub, accounting for about 90% of the country's oil exports.
