Guizhou Wanshan police crack USDT offline transaction fraud case, suspect uses "read-only wallet" to defraud 7118 USDT
On March 20th, according to Guangming Net, Wanshan Public Security Bureau in Tongren City, Guizhou Province recently cracked a case of fraud using virtual currency "read-only wallet". The suspect, Tan Mou, induced the seller, Chen Mou, to transfer 7118 USDTs (equivalent to more than 50000 yuan) to a "read-only wallet" address whose control was owned by Tan Mou, on the ground of purchasing USDTs at a high price, and then immediately transferred assets and denied collection, attempting to misappropriate USDTs and 65000 yuan of cash displayed on the scene at the same time. The incident occurred on March 11th, when Chen discovered the high price acquisition of USDT information through a certain platform and contacted the other party. Tan gained Chen's trust by displaying a large amount of cash at the offline transaction site, and induced him to complete the transfer. After the transfer was completed, Tan immediately turned around and denied it, and Chen subsequently reported it to the police. After the police brought both parties back for verification, the scam was exposed, and Tan's lies were debunked in the face of evidence. The case is still being further processed.
