[South Korea's National Tax Service Plans to Select Private Virtual Asset Custody Service Providers in the First Half of This Year] BlockBeats News, March 20, according to ZDNet Korea, South Korea's National Tax Service (NTS) plans to select private virtual asset custody service providers as early as the first half of this year to manage seized virtual assets. This move is a follow-up response to last month's virtual asset theft incident. On February 26, the NTS accidentally leaked a mnemonic phrase while releasing materials on the results of on-site searches of delinquent taxpayers, leading to two thefts of seized virtual assets. When selecting service providers, the NTS will focus on reviewing security requirements, company size, and whether the provider is insured in accordance with the "Virtual Asset User Protection Act." Currently, this task is being handled by the "Task Force for Enhancing the Virtual Asset Management System (TF)" established on March 11. In addition, the NTS plans to consult with the Ministry of Interior and Safety to establish a dedicated "Digital Asset General Division" to integrate the management of virtual assets from seizure, custody, to sale.
