According to Bloomberg, Google is testing a Gemini Mac-specific app with a small group of consumers, aiming to catch up with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude on desktop platforms. The app is currently in its early stages and is only distributed to users participating in the testing program. Features include generating images, videos, music, spreadsheets, and charts, as well as supporting mathematical and information analysis, web searches, conversation history review, and document and media uploads for analysis. The app is codenamed Janus, and it is testing a feature called Desktop Intelligence, which, with user authorization, can read screen content from Mac applications like the calendar to provide personalized context for Gemini, enhancing task processing efficiency.
