[California Court Dismisses Coinbase User's Motion to Block IRS Summons]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on March 19, according to Cointelegraph, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California recently dismissed Coinbase user Roger Metz's motion to block an IRS summons. Metz filed the lawsuit in May 2025, arguing that the IRS's summons requiring Coinbase to hand over financial records related to its 2022 tax audit violated privacy rights and procedural rules. He also claimed that he had already identified the errors and paid the owed taxes before the summons was issued. The court ruled that the 'service of process was insufficient' because Metz failed to notify the U.S. Attorney General within 90 days, dismissing the case but allowing him to refile the motion in the future.
