[Algorand Foundation Lays Off 25% of Staff to Address Macro Uncertainty and Crypto Market Downturn] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on March 19, according to The Block, the Algorand Foundation announced on March 18, 2026, that it would reduce its workforce by 25%. The foundation stated that this layoff is a measure to address global macroeconomic uncertainty and the overall downturn in the crypto market, emphasizing that it was not a decision made lightly. It is reported that the foundation's total staff is fewer than 200 people. Currently, the foundation holds approximately $38 million in USD-denominated assets and 1.1 million ALGO tokens. ALGO's market capitalization is approximately $805.8 million, ranking 78th globally. The foundation emphasized that it will continue to focus on the long-term development of the Algorand protocol and ecosystem building. This layoff reflects the recent wave of layoffs in the crypto industry, with several projects such as OP Labs, Messari, and Block also announcing layoffs in recent times.
