"ERC20" naming convention has been used on other chains who want to signal "we also have a token standard" (TRC20, BRC20, BEP20, ARC20) 1. but ERC stands for "ethereum request for comment", was just the 20th one 2. confusingly, it doesnt always map to the same featureset(trent.eth)
