A 33 year old Canadian cryptocurrency company has been kidnapped in Madrid, Spain, and two suspects have been arrested On March 18th, according to CriptoNoticias, a kidnapping case occurred in Madrid, Spain with the aim of stealing BTC and cryptocurrency private keys. A 33 year old Canadian cryptocurrency entrepreneur was forcibly taken into a rented van with tampered license plates by multiple men while attending a dinner party in the Salamanca district of Madrid on March 16th. Witnesses immediately called the police, and the Spanish national police intercepted the vehicle near the Atocha station, successfully rescuing the victim. Two Serbian suspects, aged 32 and 45, were arrested on the spot, and another suspect is still at large. According to the police investigation, the kidnapping was a premeditated operation. The victim had previously traveled from Barcelona to Madrid to negotiate financial business and was suspected to have been followed by the suspect in advance. The suspect intends to use personal coercion to force the victim to hand over the mnemonic words and private keys of the cryptocurrency wallet, which is known as a "physical coercion attack" in the security field. The police seized plastic zip ties, pills and other tools used in the crime inside the car. In addition, the suspect also attempted to seize a watch worth 100000 euros from the victim. The victim was not seriously injured and the case is still under investigation. This case is one of a series of personal attacks against cryptocurrency holders in Europe in 2026, with France recording 11 related cases this year.
