Wow I got a section in the @bitcoinpark_ newsletter this morning on my soliloquy on @Vladcostea's pod earlier this monday. Modern-day toxic bitcoin maximalism demands Purity over Truth. Hating shitcoins, scammers, is a defining trait of maximalism and this has served year after year to be a very strong defense mechanism for bitcoin. However in years past, critiques of "shitcoins" were much sharper & informed. The average bitcoin today has little knowledge of *why* other cryptocurrencies are inferior to BTC, it's simply a mantra. Today the average bitcoin maximalist looks like a cargo cultist -- mindlessly emulating tactics from the blocksize war without understanding what was actually going on. This is somewhat inevitable as the bitcoin's userbase grows, but I personally think it is far to early in bitcoin's adoption cycle to turn your brain off.(cbspears ◉)
