Stablecoin Tempo, supported by Stripe and Paradigm, has announced the launch of its mainnet and introduced the open standard Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), jointly developed with Stripe. This protocol is designed to support machine payment scenarios involving various payment methods such as stablecoins and bank cards. Tempo is specifically tailored for high-frequency, small-value, programmable payments, emphasizing predictable low fees, high throughput, and instant settlement. MPP introduces a "sessions" mechanism, enabling continuous streaming deductions within a predefined limit after a single authorization, and supports aggregating numerous small interactions into a single settlement transaction. The initial service directory includes over 100 model, data, and infrastructure providers, with Visa, Mastercard, OpenAI, Shopify, Standard Chartered, and others participating as partners to test scenarios such as cross-border remittances, global disbursements, embedded finance, and tokenized deposits.
