[Ethereum Tests Fast Confirmation Rules, Aiming to Reduce Cross-Chain Bridge Wait Time to 13 Seconds]
The Ethereum client team is testing Fast Confirmation Rules (FCR), planning to shorten the deposit confirmation time from L1 to L2 networks and exchanges to approximately 13 seconds, reducing the current solution by up to 98%. This mechanism, proposed by Ethereum researcher Julian Ma, determines block confirmation status through validator proofs without relying on traditional block depth counting methods. FCR operates based on network message propagation speed and staked ETH distribution, and can be deployed without requiring a hard fork. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has expressed support, though there are still voices of skepticism within the community. Currently, client and API integration work is underway.
