[UAE Expresses Willingness to Participate in Hormuz Strait Security Operations]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on March 18, a senior UAE official stated that the UAE is willing to participate if the international community promotes actions to ensure maritime security in the Hormuz Strait. UAE Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash, said during a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in the United States on Tuesday that the UAE's current priority is to avoid further escalation of the situation but remains open to efforts aimed at ensuring the safety of navigation in the Hormuz Strait. Previously, Trump had requested a number of allies to dispatch warships to assist in transporting oil through the strait, but the request was declined. Gargash described the strait as an international passage crucial to global trade and energy flows and stated that its security responsibility should not rest solely on regional countries.
