**[OpenSea Delays SEA Token Launch, New Timeline Not Yet Announced]**
Odaily Planet Daily News: NFT trading platform OpenSea has announced a delay in its highly anticipated SEA token launch plan. OpenSea CEO Devin Finzer stated on social media on Monday that the token generation event (TGE), originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, will be postponed, with no new launch date announced yet. Finzer explained that the team has been working tirelessly on related developments and had initially planned to kick off the issuance process during the March 30 event. However, the OpenSea Foundation decided to push back the timeline. He candidly remarked, "A delay is a delay, and we won’t sugarcoat it. The current crypto market environment is challenging, and SEA will only be issued once. We want to ensure everything is fully prepared before launching."
Last October, OpenSea disclosed its SEA token plan, stating that 50% of the token supply would be allocated to the community, including early users (OG users) and participants in the platform’s reward programs. Finzer also revealed that the ongoing reward campaign will be the final round. According to previous plans, OpenSea also intended to use 50% of platform revenue for token buybacks upon the token’s launch and allow users to stake SEA to support their favorite NFT projects and collections.
