OIL PRICES FALL AS TRUMP CALLS FOR HORMUZ HELP. TANKERS GETTING THROUGH, SAYS BESSENT
Oil prices slipped early Monday as the Iran war entered its third week. President Donald Trump called on a coalition of countries to help secure safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz, while oil supply remained under threat.
Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, was down 0.1% at $103.05 a barrel, after hitting $106.50 earlier in the day. West Texas Intermediate futures were down 1.9% to $96.72. U.S. oil prices have outpaced international prices since the Iran war began—up 44% compared with Brent’s 41% rise. Both are now 69% so far this year.
