South Korea's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has fined the crypto exchange Bithumb 36.8 billion KRW (approximately $24.6 million) for anti-money laundering violations and ordered a partial business suspension for six months. Regulators stated that the exchange was involved in about 6.65 million violations, including approximately 3.55 million cases related to failure to implement Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures and about 3.04 million cases of failing to block restricted transactions. The suspension only affects new user registrations, while existing users can continue trading and transferring funds as usual.
