**[Australia's Gen Z Cryptocurrency Ownership Reaches 23%, Regulators Warn of Risks from AI and Financial Bloggers]**
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on March 16, a survey revealed that one in four members of Australia's Gen Z has invested in cryptocurrency. As a result, the country's financial regulators have cautioned young investors against relying on social media bloggers and AI chatbots for financial decision-making.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) released survey findings on Sunday, showing that Gen Z places significant trust in **"sources of information that are often unreliable,"** leading them to make riskier financial decisions.
ASIC stated: "Moneysmart's research on Gen Z found that while this generation is eager to access authoritative and trustworthy financial content, many struggle to find such information — their search results often lead to sources prioritizing traffic over accuracy."
In June last year, ASIC took action against social media content from financial bloggers, issuing warning notices to 18 bloggers, stating that they were **"suspected of illegally promoting high-risk financial products and providing unlicensed financial advice."**
The latest survey was conducted between November 28 and December 10 last year, with 1,127 respondents aged 18 to 28 participating. The results showed that 63% of this group obtained financial information and guidance through social media, 18% used artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, and 30% specifically relied on YouTube for related content.
