Let’s clarify two points: 1️⃣ This incident is not a security vulnerability of the OKX Web3 wallet. The attack method involved hackers using trojan software to take control of users' devices. They then tampered with webpage JS code to implant hooks or monitored keyboard inputs to steal locally stored encrypted files and passwords. 2️⃣ OKX Web3 wallet is a 100% self-custodial wallet. Private keys and passwords are stored only on the user’s own device. OKX cannot access or control user assets. However, if a user’s device is already compromised by hackers, no wallet—including MetaMask—can guarantee security. It’s like a thief being able to operate your computer and see all your keyboard inputs. The security of user devices is always a critical part of the self-custodial system. We recommend users avoid installing unknown software or plugins, regularly check device security, and properly safeguard their seed phrases and private keys.
