Cambridge University's latest research reveals that the physical infrastructure of the Bitcoin network has extremely high resilience against destruction. Even if 72% of the world's undersea cables were cut, the network would still survive. The most critical finding of the paper is that current Bitcoin nodes are overly concentrated in a few centralized cloud hosting facilities. A targeted attack or complete outage of the top 5 global hosting providers could severely damage or even cripple the entire Bitcoin network system. (CoinDesk)
