[Whale Mistake: 50 Million USDT Exchanged for AAVE, Only Received About $36,000 Worth of Tokens]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, a crypto whale mistakenly exchanged $50 million USDT for AAVE through the Aave trading interface, accepting an extremely high slippage rate. As a result, they only received 324 AAVE (approximately $36,000), incurring a loss of nearly $50 million.
Stani Kulechov, founder and CEO of Aave Labs, stated that due to the unusually large order size, the trading interface had already warned of 'extreme slippage risk' and required the user to check a confirmation box. However, the user still confirmed and executed the transaction on a mobile device.
The decentralized trading protocol CoW Swap explained that the transaction was executed normally according to the parameters signed by the user, with no protocol vulnerabilities or malicious behavior detected. The system also provided a clear warning about the price impact.
Kulechov mentioned that the Aave team is attempting to contact the user and plans to refund approximately $600,000 in transaction fees.
