[National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center Issues Risk Warning on OpenClaw Application in the Industrial Sector] Odaily Planet Daily News – The National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center has issued a risk warning regarding the application of OpenClaw in the industrial sector. The report highlights that the open-source AI agent OpenClaw (formerly known as Clawdbot, Moltbot) can directly control computers based on natural language commands and is currently being rapidly deployed in areas such as industrial research and design, production and manufacturing, and operations management. The report analyzes three main risks: 1. Risks of unauthorized access to industrial hosts and loss of production control – OpenClaw's permission control mechanism has inherent flaws, which may lead to unauthorized operations, causing parameter disruptions, production line interruptions, and equipment damage. 2. Risks of industrial sensitive information leakage – Several functional plugins compatible with OpenClaw have been identified as malicious plugins, which attackers can exploit to steal core confidential information such as industrial blueprints and API keys. 3. Risks of attack surface expansion and amplification of attack effects – OpenClaw currently has over 80 security vulnerabilities. If its management interface is exposed to the public internet, attackers can gain platform control permissions at a low cost and use it as an automated attack assistant to carry out lateral movements. The report recommends that industrial enterprises, in principle, prohibit granting system-level permissions to OpenClaw, deploy it in an isolated environment, and strictly forbid direct connections with industrial control networks. Additionally, enterprises should deploy the latest stable version from official channels and promptly install security patches.
