The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in areas where their regulatory responsibilities overlap, including crypto asset regulation. According to the agreement, the two agencies will share data and resources, hold regular joint meetings, and coordinate on enforcement actions, product approvals, and policy interpretations, while allowing certain entities to register with both agencies. The document also lists 'establishing an applicable regulatory framework for crypto assets and other emerging technologies' as one of its core objectives.
