[Circle Launches Nanopayments Testnet, Supporting USDC Microtransactions as Low as $0.000001 Without Gas Fees] BlockBeats News, March 11 – Stablecoin issuer Circle announced the launch of the Circle Nanopayments testnet. This payment infrastructure supports USDC transfers as low as $0.000001 per transaction and enables gas-free transactions, aiming to provide a foundational payment layer for the 'Agentic Economy.' According to the introduction, Nanopayments is built on Circle Gateway and aggregates off-chain transactions with delayed batch on-chain settlements. This approach packages thousands of microtransactions into a single on-chain settlement, thereby avoiding gas costs for each transaction. Developers can leverage this to implement pay-per-call, pay-per-use, and machine-to-machine payment scenarios. Technically, when a user or agent initiates a payment, they sign an EIP-3009 authorization message. The system verifies the signature, instantly updates the internal ledger, and confirms the payment, while actual on-chain settlement is periodically completed in the background. Circle stated that this solution has been validated in collaboration with open-source robotics developer OpenMind. For example, an autonomous robotic dog can use Nanopayments to automatically pay for charging fees using USDC. Currently, Nanopayments is available on multiple testnet chains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Base, and Polygon test environments.
