[WTI Crude Oil Drops Over 5% Intraday, IEA Proposes Release of Largest Oil Reserves in Its History]
BlockBeats News, March 11, according to WSJ, informed sources revealed that the International Energy Agency (IEA) has proposed releasing the largest oil reserves in its history to curb the surge in crude oil prices caused by the U.S. and Israel's war with Iran. Officials stated that the amount of oil to be released this time will exceed the 182 million barrels released in two phases by IEA member countries during the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022.
The proposal was discussed on Tuesday at an emergency meeting of energy officials from the 32 member countries of the IEA. Countries are expected to make a decision on the proposal by Wednesday. If no objections are raised, the proposal will be approved; however, even a single objection from any country could delay the implementation of the plan.
As of the time of writing, WTI crude oil has fallen below $82 per barrel, down 5.20% intraday.
