[AirTrunk, a Blackstone-backed company, secures record $1.24 billion loan for Tokyo AI data center] According to Jinse Finance, hyperscale data center operator AirTrunk has secured a green loan of 191.6 billion yen (approximately $1.24 billion) for refinancing and expanding its TOK1 data center campus in the Tokyo metropolitan area. AirTrunk stated that this is the largest data center financing completed in Japan to date. AirTrunk, a company owned by a consortium led by Blackstone Group and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), announced on Tuesday that the loan will support the next phase of development for the TOK1 campus. The campus is designed to have a capacity exceeding 300 megawatts (MW). This expansion aims to meet Japan's growing demand for cloud computing services and artificial intelligence infrastructure, as the country increases its investment in digital computing capabilities.
