IRAN WAR LIFTS MARKET MELTDOWN RISK
Ed Yardeni has raised the chance of a U.S. stock market meltdown to 35%, up from 20%, as the Iran war pushes oil above $100 and clouds the outlook.
He also cut the odds of a “melt-up” rally to 5%, citing rising energy costs and reduced expectations for rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.
The S&P 500 has so far held up better than global markets, while the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index has climbed as investors seek safety.
Despite the risks, Yardeni still assigns a 60% probability to his “Roaring 2020s” growth scenario.(*Walter Bloomberg)
