IMF Managing Director Georgieva warns that for every 10% increase in oil prices that lasts for a year, global inflation will rise by 40 basis points According to Golden Finance, from March 6th to 9th, 2026, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva issued clear warnings about the impact of the surge in oil prices caused by the Middle East conflict on the global economy. She pointed out that if oil prices continue to rise by 10% throughout the year, it will directly push up global inflation by 40 basis points and drag down global economic growth by 0.1 to 0.2 percentage points.
