[U.S. SEC and CFTC Plan to Relocate to the Same Office Location, But Not a Merger Plan] According to people familiar with the matter, Wall Street's two top regulatory agencies, the CFTC and SEC, are discussing plans to move into the same building complex in Washington, just steps away from the U.S. Capitol. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulate different markets. According to these sources, the plan does not involve merging the two agencies but rather relocating the CFTC to the same building complex where the SEC is currently located, near Union Station. Discussions about this relocation plan began last year, and according to these individuals, it may not be implemented until 2027 at the earliest. The U.S. General Services Administration, the agency responsible for overseeing federal real estate, is also involved in these discussions.
