[Bloomberg: U.S. CFTC May Relocate to Share Office Space with SEC, But the Two Agencies Will Not Merge]
BlockBeats News, March 7, according to sources familiar with the matter, Wall Street's two top regulatory agencies, the CFTC and SEC, are discussing plans to move into the same building complex in Washington, just steps away from the U.S. Capitol.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulate different markets. According to these sources, the plan will not merge the two agencies but involves discussions about relocating the CFTC to the same building complex where the SEC is currently located, near Union Station. Discussions about this relocation plan began last year, and according to these sources, it may not be implemented until 2027 at the earliest. The U.S. General Services Administration, the agency responsible for overseeing federal real estate, is also involved in these discussions.
