From Vitalik's recent flurry of posts, you can sense his urgency. This tweet feels a bit different from his usual focus on technical discussions. Beyond sticking to core values without compromise (open source, privacy, security, decentralization), he also talks about disruptive ideas in applications and interactions. In the AI era, many things need to be restructured:
1. **Rebuilding crypto wallets**: In the AI era, browser and mobile wallets will soon become outdated.
2. **Elevating privacy**: Privacy should be on the same level as security (restructuring the application stack).
3. **DeFi concepts**: Most of DeFi is essentially just a general futures market based on decentralized oracles, where users organize freely. The ideal oracle might use SNARKs to prove M-of-N small AI models, pulling data from mainstream news sites.
4. **De-appification**: AI will turn “applications” from fixed UIs into continuous spaces. “Letting users self-organize” will become mainstream.
5. **L2 restructuring**: How to make L2 a true collaborator with L1. (Note: This should’ve been addressed two years ago—this move feels a bit late.)
6. **Freeing the mind**: Memes like “Milady,” despite some people’s bizarre political views, essentially represent “tearing off the suit and tie, pouring wine on it, destroying it, and liberating the body and mind.”
In summary, Ethereum’s previous approach was: “Optimize the existing ecosystem step by step.” Now, it’s about complete transformation: rethink from scratch what’s truly valuable. If it were 2014 again, starting Ethereum from zero, with nothing on-chain, how would we do it?
