[Tariff Refund Faces Obstacles: U.S. Customs Says It Cannot Comply with Order to Halt Emergency Tariff Calculations]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, an official from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) informed a federal judge that they are unable to comply with a court order requiring the cessation of a critical step in the tariff payment process. After the Supreme Court overturned most of the President's global tariff policies, Judge Richard Eaton of the New York Federal Trade Court issued an order on Wednesday to stop calculating the emergency tariffs imposed by Trump in importers' customs documents. This move aims to simplify future refund processes. The judge also questioned the government as to why operations related to these tariffs have not ceased, given that the Supreme Court ruled them illegal last month. (Yicai Global)
