[Expectations for Rate Cuts Plummet Sharply, March Rate Hold by UK and US Central Banks Almost Certain]
According to a report by Golden Finance, Sonal Desai of Franklin Templeton pointed out that the Middle East war has led to a rise in oil prices, fueling expectations of global inflation heating up. Desai stated that this should prompt investors to lower their expectations for rate cuts by major central banks. Data from the London Stock Exchange Group shows that the market currently estimates a 31% probability of the Bank of England cutting rates in March, significantly lower than last week's expectation of 83%. Meanwhile, investors estimate only a 4% probability of the Federal Reserve cutting rates in March.
