This is one of the largest private donations received by a UK research institution outside of Oxford and Cambridge and will be used to help the institute establish an £80 million endowment fund to ensure long-term development. Delo co-founded BitMEX in 2014, pleaded guilty in 2022 to violating U.S. banking regulations, and paid a $10 million fine. He was pardoned by President Trump in March 2025.
