Blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs points out that AI agents are increasingly being used in crypto crime networks. The report states that as AI's autonomy in the crypto ecosystem grows, related systems can now complete fund transfers and on-chain executions without continuous human intervention. By 2025, the scale of illicit crypto fund flows is expected to reach $158 billion, with AI-driven scams surging approximately 500% year-over-year. TRM Labs notes that AI agents can automatically split funds, select cross-chain bridges, and execute decentralized platform swaps, significantly reducing the time window for money laundering and asset transfers, making it harder for traditional monitoring methods to detect anomalies in time.
