The District of Columbia Fraud Strike Center has seized $580 million worth of cryptocurrency Odaily Planet Daily News: Jeanine Pirro, the federal prosecutor for the District of Columbia, announced that the cryptocurrency freeze and seizure amount by the Fraud Center Strike Force against Southeast Asian criminal networks has exceeded $580 million. This unit was established in November 2025 by the US Department of Justice FBI、 The Secret Service and the Ministry of Finance coordinate their operations, mainly to crack down on transnational criminal networks operating pig killing scams in Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and other places. Pirro stated that his office will seek to confiscate the relevant funds through legal procedures and return them to the victims as much as possible. Deddy Lavid, CEO of blockchain analysis platform Cyvers, told Decrypt that although the $580 million seizure scale is operationally significant, it only accounts for a small part of the total activity in the context of global cryptocurrency fraud. The company has identified approximately 27000 active criminal gangs with a fraud exposure of about $27.5 billion. Pirro links Southeast Asian fraud networks to organized crime in China, while Lavid points out that these networks are becoming increasingly decentralized, involving multinational operators and cross-border money laundering hubs.
