[South Korean Government Expands Public Procurement Plan for Domestic AI Products] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on February 27, South Korean Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho announced that the government will expand public procurement projects for innovative artificial intelligence (AI) products from local companies to support the development of the industry. The plan includes: - Establishing a dedicated review committee in September to accelerate the entry of innovative AI products into the public procurement market. - Requiring at least 50% of the components used in designated innovative products to be domestically produced, strengthening the local supply chain. - Increasing the pilot procurement budget for innovative products from 52.9 billion KRW in 2025 to 83.9 billion KRW in 2026. Choo Kyung-ho emphasized that public procurement will serve as a catalyst for AI innovation, not only transforming people's lives but also helping companies expand into global markets. The government will faithfully act as the "first customer" for innovative companies.
