Pipe Network launches SolanaCDN: a free and open-source validator client for Solana, with built-in acceleration features
SolanaCDN has increased the propagation speed of shreds (sharded packets) by 3.8 times through a global mesh network consisting of over 35000 nodes, and is provided as a public good for the Solana network. Pipe Network announced today the launch of SolanaCDN: a free, open-source Solana validator client that integrates CDN acceleration layers. SolanaCDN is built on Anza's Agave fork, allowing every Solana validator to achieve faster shred propagation through Pipe coverage of over 35000 PoP (Point of Presence) nodes worldwide. This client is completely free from the CDN acceleration layer. Pipe Network provides SolanaCDN as a public goods infrastructure for the Solana ecosystem. The problem solved by SolanaCDN on Solana is that validator performance is greatly affected by network geographic location. Validators closer to the block producer see shreds earlier, vote faster, and receive more rewards. Validators in areas with poor connectivity, even if they have the same hardware, will miss out on voting and experience a decrease in leader slot revenue due to propagation. SolanaCDN solves this problem by providing a second, faster path for shreds delivery outside of native gossip. Shreds and voting packets will be forwarded through Pipe's global mesh network; The network will continuously measure each network path and route traffic along the fastest available path in real-time. Native gossip is still running at the underlying level; SolanaCDN has added a parallel 'fast track'. The performance of SolanaCDN is 3.8 times faster than standard Turbine in terms of propagation speed: the P50 of cross regional latency is about 78ms, while the baseline of standard gossip is about 300ms. Before enabling the CDN layer, the client also comes with optimization built with Pipe, which is out of the box, including: - leader oriented shred merge optimization (Fast Shreds) - global network acceleration snapshot download through Pipe - providing real-time ETA display of recovery progress during validator catch-up/recovery (catch-up). Public goods infrastructure has faster propagation with network effects: every validator running SolanaCDN will improve shred propagation across the entire network, resulting in faster block final confirmation. Fewer forks and fewer missed slots benefit the entire Solana network. David Rhodus, CEO of Pipe Network, stated that "validator performance should not be determined by geographic location. SolanaCDN enables every validator to use equally fast infrastructure. The more validators running it, the faster Solana is for everyone. ”SolanaCDN is a fully compatible fork version of Agave. Validators can use it as a plug and play replacement for existing clients. The CDN layer is optional and can be enabled with just a configuration switch, and is designed not to participate in consensus: it does not modify block generation, consensus logic, leader scheduling, or voting rules. All CDN operations are non blocking and fail safe; If the CDN layer is unavailable, the validator will continue to operate normally. Built in Prometheus metrics and "CDN vs gossip" racing data help operations personnel clearly observe performance changes in their environment. The availability of SolanaCDN has been released: the source code has been released on GitHub, and the client can now run on Solana mainnet beta. -Website: https://(solanacdn.com) - GitHub:https://(github.com)/pipenetwork/agave-solana Pipe Network is a global edge infrastructure company built on Solana. Its network operates over 35000 hyper local PoP nodes worldwide, providing high-speed read distributed storage and real-time data distribution. Pipe's overlay network tracks the delay, packet loss, and jitter of each path in real-time, and routes traffic along the fastest path based on this.
