Gas Can't Stay Above $5 - Is $2 Next? The inability of the front US natural gas future to stay above $5 per million British thermal units may be emphasized by the price at about $3 on Feb. 25 -- despite a second straight colder-than-normal winter. Is a trough around $2/MMBTU next? My graphic highlights the roughly $2-$5 range since 2011 and an annual 2026 red candle that's set to shift to green, if the January (Jan27) contract at about $4.70 is a guide.
