[Tether and Circle Expand Presence in South Korean Market, Possibly in Response to Local Stablecoin Regulations]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that stablecoin issuer Tether has recently posted several job openings targeting the South Korean market, including positions for PR Manager, Blockchain Investigator, and Government Relations Specialist. Previously, Tether entered the local market by hiring a South Korean market representative, but following the departure of that individual, the company now plans to expand its team in South Korea. Additionally, industry insiders revealed that since Circle's CEO visited South Korea in August last year, Circle has also been advancing its business expansion in the region. The report highlights that South Korea's upcoming 'Basic Act on Digital Assets' may require foreign stablecoin issuers to establish local branches in South Korea to distribute tokens in the domestic market. The recent moves by these companies are seen as proactive measures in anticipation of potential regulatory requirements. (News1)
