A 39 year old man suspected of managing the platform was charged with three counts of "theft" and one count of "fraud" and appeared in the Eastern Magistrates' Court today. The police stated that after the platform was shut down in November 2022 under the pretext of "system maintenance", the person in charge seized virtual currency worth approximately HKD 633 million from the platform. As of July 2024, the police have received 890 reports from victims involving a total of HKD 208 million. It is reported that the 39 year old suspect left Hong Kong in November 2022 and was arrested upon entry in July 2024.
