Today I met with Dr. George Elombi, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). I used the opportunity o provide an update on Jamaica’s ongoing recovery efforts and the establishment of the National Recovery and Reconstruction Authority, NaRRA. Our focus is clear, to move from response to resilience, and from rebuilding to renewal. Through NaRRA, we are strengthening coordination, accelerating execution, and ensuring that recovery efforts are strategic, transparent, and aligned with long-term national development. We are now preparing a targeted shortlist of priority projects, with particular emphasis on private sector initiatives that can drive growth, expand opportunity, and deepen productive capacity. These projects are designed both to restore what was impacted, and to modernise infrastructure, unlock investment, and position Jamaica for stronger, more inclusive growth. Afreximbank has been a valued partner to Jamaica, and we look forward to deepening collaboration in ways that mobilise capital, support enterprise, and deliver tangible results for our people.(Andrew Holness)
