[OpenAI Adds WebSocket Support to Responses API, Speeds Up Long-Chain Tasks by 40%]
According to OpenAI's developer documentation, OpenAI has introduced a WebSocket mode for its Responses API, specifically optimized for complex workflows involving frequent tool calls. This mode establishes a persistent connection and supports incremental input, enabling a speed increase of approximately 40% for long-chain tasks involving more than 20 tool calls. Additionally, the WebSocket mode is compatible with the Zero Data Retention (ZDR) standard and supports low-latency context continuation using the previous_response_id. Currently, the duration of a single connection is limited to within 60 minutes.
