Finding reliable on-chain data has become increasingly harder to do. Especially for Litecoin and chains not named Bitcoin and Ethereum. But even data for those chains can be incorrect from time to time.
The latest example is the information provided in a post by this handle the other day, touting only ~87k active addresses for Bitcoin through the site managed by @bitinfocharts. The actual number of active addresses for Bitcoin was more in line with ~ 604,750, which is obviously well over the reported amount shown on Bitinfocharts. This is unfortunate because those posting from this handle pride themselves in being upfront and honest in all posts made and have found this site to be one the longest running and widely used sites for on-chain metrics.
Going forward, any data provided will be corroborated between multiple sources to verify accuracy. It is also asked of any site or service providing information that it review their source collecting and data reporting practices to help those within the market who rely on their information for not just communicating on-chain metrics, but also use that information for making potential investment and other important decisions.
We will be pulling the erroneous post in question and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused for those who follow this handle.
Thank you.(Litecoin)
