According to CNBC, six Democratic senators have written to CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, strongly opposing the launch of prediction market contracts that 'incentivize physical harm or death,' stating that they pose a serious national security risk. The letter urges the CFTC to explicitly reaffirm an 'absolute prohibition' on any contracts based on or closely related to individual deaths, noting that the CFTC has already explicitly banned contracts involving terrorism, assassination, war, etc.
