[Hashgraph Group Launches EU Digital Product Passport Tool Based on Hedera]
According to Cointelegraph, Swiss technology company Hashgraph Group has launched an EU digital product passport tool based on Hedera, namely the supply chain tracking platform TrackTrace, aimed at helping businesses address the upcoming product compliance requirements of the EU. The platform records data related to product circulation and emissions, building a verifiable product information audit trail, and integrates AI agents to automate compliance reporting processes.
This move is in response to the Sustainable Products Ecodesign Regulation, which will take effect in July 2024. The regulation establishes a framework for creating product-specific rules that include digital product passports, standardizing the way key product information is recorded and shared across supply chains. The first major milestone is the passport requirement for electric vehicles and industrial batteries under the EU Battery Regulation, which will take effect in February 2027. Other priority categories, such as textiles, apparel, and steel, will be included in the DPP scope starting from July 2027.
