Alibaba's newly open-sourced native multimodal model, Qianwen 3.5, claimed the top spot globally, becoming the most closely watched open-source large model among global AI developers recently. Qianwen 3.5 is Alibaba's latest generation foundational large model, open-sourced on Chinese New Year's Eve, with a total of 397 billion parameters, only 17 billion activated, delivering performance comparable to Gemini 3 while its token cost is approximately 5% of Gemini 3's. In the latest Hugging Face model ranking, 8 out of the top 10 models are from Chinese teams, including contributions from Alibaba, Zhipu, MiniMax, Dark Side of the Moon, and other institutions.
