US, CHINA TO HOLD NUCLEAR ARMS TALKS IN GENEVA
A U.S. delegation will meet Chinese counterparts in Geneva this week to discuss nuclear arms, following talks with Russia, amid efforts to launch a new round of arms control negotiations.
The discussions come after the New START treaty with Russia expired. U.S. officials urge China to join, citing its rapidly growing nuclear arsenal—projected to have enough fissile material for 1,000 warheads by 2030. China maintains its arsenal is smaller than the U.S.’s and has previously declined to participate in disarmament talks.(*Walter Bloomberg)
