[ECB Governing Council Member Panetta: The U.S. Economy Bore Most of the Burden of Trump's Tariffs] Jin10 Data, February 21 – ECB Governing Council Member and Governor of the Bank of Italy, Panetta, stated that the U.S. economy bore most of the burden of tariffs imposed by President Trump. Speaking in Venice on Saturday, he said: 'Foreign exporters appear to have absorbed part of the losses, estimated at around 10%. Initially, these losses were absorbed by the profits of U.S. businesses, then partially passed on to consumers, who now bear about half of the losses. Overall, tariffs are estimated to have contributed slightly more than 0.5 percentage points to U.S. inflation.'
