[JPMorgan Chase Requests to Transfer Trump's Lawsuit to Federal Court in New York] According to Jin10, JPMorgan Chase has filed a request with the court to transfer the lawsuit filed by Trump over the closure of his accounts from Miami to a federal court in New York. In the submitted documents, the company stated that Trump and several of the businesses involved in the lawsuit had agreed in writing at the time of account opening that any disputes would be litigated in New York, where the bank's headquarters is located. JPMorgan Chase also argued that, due to the overwhelming connection of this dispute to New York, transferring the case serves the public interest. According to the documents submitted by the bank, the accounts in question were opened in New York, the bankers managing these accounts were based in New York, and the alleged activities that prompted Trump's lawsuit also occurred in New York. In January of this year, Trump sued the bank and its CEO, Jamie Dimon, seeking at least $5 billion in damages, accusing the bank of 'de-banking' him and his companies following the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.
